We reported yesterday that the popular Syfy series "Eureka" was cancelled. Syfy had reportedly ordered six episodes of a sixth season, but then backed out of the deal, and decided to close up shop for good, prompting a petition to save the show.
Perhaps the petition did some good, as the network has agreed to give the show. As we reported this morning, Syfy has announced today that they will be cancelling "Eureka" at the end of next season.
The cast and crew have been thanking fans for their support on the "Eureka" Twitter page, but some of the show's fans have taken it to the next level and are mounting a "Save Eureka" campaign and website.
Executives from Syfy made a surprise announcement today regarding the future of the popular "Eureka. Syfy released a statement today announcing that season five of the show will be the last.
Consider if "Monday Night Football" for geeks. Syfy is unveiling its new Monday night lineup tonight with the season premieres of three original dramatic series, including new seasons of "Eureka" and "Warehouse 13," as well as the series premiere of the brand new "Alphas.

Retrieved To say that we've been looking forward to getting the inside scoop and the commentaries to the episodes would be a vast understatement and S1 did NOT disappoint.
Cast members are involved in every single episode commentary making it very entertaining. Colin Fergeson does one episode by himself and it was hilarious!!!
We have since bought Seasons 2 and 3 and will be getting S4 and 5 before the end of the month. We've watched this many times, all the way through.
This is another "they don't make them like this anymore" kind of show. It's mostly family friendly, it's funny and entertaining and lovable.
I just wish it had lasted longer and ended better. Watching it again with my Tweener has One of my all time top 5 favorite shows.
Watching it again with my Tweener has been just as much a thrill as it was the first time around. There are a few gross outs and sexual innuendo.
If your Tweener isn't on the mature side, you might want to wait a bit. I think it's rated PG These story lines are fresh and interesting.
There is no laugh track needed, you'll be in stitches at least twice just in the pilot episode. The dialog is extremely quick and witty, and the characters so well developed that it's impossible to pick favorites.
We love them all for their distinct personalities and quirks, so familiar already, that we can guess their reactions to certain situations, if not their words.
We love it when we guess wrong, we love it when we guess right. It's light and fun, but it does create curiosity and does provoke thoughtful discussion from time to time.
If it were more often the case, I might actually watch more than twice a year. For now though, on to season two with many thanx to writers, producers, directors, cast and crew.
Don't miss if you like quirky sci-fi! Quirky humor mixed with pretty legit sci-fi. Great acting! The actors and actresses really get comfortable with each other and in later seasons do an amazing job at 'switching body' acting, you can tell how well they know each others characters.
Some episodes are better than others. Like, much better. The 'to be continued' episodes are the best. Other episodes are hit or miss between stars.
I don't remember why but I suspect it had more to do with my frame of mind than the show because The characters are great, appealing, funny and believable.
The situations they get into are funny and mostly well-thought out. The setting, fictional Eureka Oregon, is beautiful and made me want to move there.
I have watched the first 4 seasons repeatedly. Sometimes I play them as background as I cook. Sometimes I need a little mood lift, a feel good, and most of the episodes from the first 4 seasons are perfect for that.
If your only experience with Eureka is from Season 5 on Amazon then you are really really missing out. In my opinion that is the least enjoyable season.
In this case its Dr Allison Blake. I had forgotten how fun a series this had been until I bought Season 1 on a whim. The characters are a good mix.
Just plain fun to watch. It seems to me that what makes the science behind this discovery so remarkable is that it was achieved by purely chemical means".
She was highly instrumental in the development of nuclear fission, but she did not invent it. See all reviews.
Top reviews from other countries. America nearly lost the race to build the atomic bomb; it could not risk such a close call again. Truman commissioned a top-secret residential development in a remote area of the Pacific Northwest, one that would serve to protect and nurture America's most valuable intellectual resources.
The best architects and planners were commissioned to design a welcoming place for these superlative geniuses to reside, an area that would offer the best education for their children, the best healthcare, the best amenities and quality of life.
A community was created to rival the most idyllic of America's small towns -- with one major difference: this town would never appear on any maps.

At least, none that haven't been classified "eyes only" by the Pentagon. Thus, the town of Eureka was born. But for all its familiar, small-town trappings, things in this secret hamlet are anything but ordinary.
The stereotype of the absent-minded professor exists for a reason, and most of the quantum leaps in science and technology during the past 50 years were produced by Eureka's elite researchers.
Unfortunately, scientific exploration is rarely what one expects, and years of experiments gone awry have yielded some peculiar by-products.
From unrequited love to professional jealousy, from addiction to depression, the problems of Eureka's townsfolk stem from life's myriad of everyday challenges.
But with the population's unique talents, troubled psyches and limitless resources, these small-town concerns have a way of becoming big-time problems.
It is at that intersection, where human frailty and super-science collide, that Eureka begins. Eureka season 1 is an undemanding series.
No complicated plots or deep emotions. However it can be funny and the bonus materials indicate an enthusiastic following as shown by fake infomercials and webisodes for serious fans.
First the poor bits. Each crisis is often caused by a superscience mishap and seems to often be solved by a device invented for the purpose.
Jo Morton playing genius garage mechanic Henry, almost seems to mimic Mr Spock regularly saving the Enterprise by reversing the polarity on gobbledygook.
A lot of the "science" is just fantasy and wish fulfilment - and might as well be magic. Just throw in a few topical physics words.
Sometimes there are events which are really tragic, involving the loss of families or loved ones. There are disasters which level city blocks and surely kill hundreds.
Yet there is no feeling of loss. Its just part of the plot. Sherriff Carter never seems to stop apologising to his wayward daughter.
Now the good stuff. The acting is solid and Ed Quinn is stands out as the Director of Eureka. Selfish and driven - one episode has his emotions reflected in a computer link where his dreams of world domination become public.
But he is also unsure of himself and has a nice line in sarcasm. Colin Ferguson plays the Sheriff well, often getting a laugh with his uneducated dialog against Ed Quinns ascerbic Nathan Stark.
There are some good jokes and slapstick scenes throughout. Although if you watch the commentaries it becomes obvious that the network rearranged the episodes to make the early ones stronger and hook an audience.
I think they were right, because the middle third of them did not grab me. Only just started watching this series for the first time and have found it a lot of fun.
It's a great mixture of comedy and science and The concept seems original, containing all these boffins in one place, Eureka, away from the public eye.
Although the idea behind Warehouse 13 did come to mind, where the artefacts are all stored together, and If you liked that series, then this should appeal.
One person found this helpful. Great Sci-Fi series suitable for older kids and adults with no serious violence or bad language. Interesting episodes - lots of humour and suspense.
One of the most enjoyable productions to come out of the US, a hint of British humour. Back to top. Get to Know Us. Amazon Payment Products.
